This book is a supplement to the film, “Freedom Writers”, which students will watch in my CEP 1/2 class. The book talks about social issues that also happen in Japan, such as diversity, racism, discrimination, immigration, and gang violence. It teaches values like tolerance, acceptance, understanding, open-mindedness, and forgiveness.

The book introduces students to the art of debate, one of the major speaking activities in my CEP class. In this book, students will learn different oral and critical thinking skills such as stating and refuting opinions, and supporting opinions with evidence. The activities in the book are fun, exciting and easy to understand.
